Elizabeth Jones

Elizabeth is a research analyst in the Education and Employment division at Mathematica Policy Research. She is an experienced educator who aims to use policy analysis and collaboration to improve educational and social equity. During ten years as an educator, Elizabeth served as a fourth-grade teacher, instructional coach, testing coordinator, and ESL coordinator in public and charter schools. As a teacher, she led efforts to implement data-driven professional learning communities, developed multi-disciplinary reading curriculums, and served as a member of the school improvement team.

More recently, through internships with foundations and other clients, Elizabeth has gained experience collecting and analyzing qualitative data. She comanaged a team to conduct a listening tour of stakeholder experiences with remote learning during the pandemic, used interview data to develop a regional childhood food insecurity roadmap, and conducted a mixed-methods study with early childhood educators to understand their perceptions of discipline policies. She also used human-centered design principles to support a Durham school in refining its approach to outdoor eating and to support an early childhood organization in refocusing its post-pandemic practices.

Elizabeth received her undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and her master’s in education from the University of Georgia. Elizabeth received her master’s in public policy from Duke University in 2022.
